Clutches for Installation in Your Housing
CR-Series Roller Clutch General Description:
The CR-Series TINY-CLUTCH is a miniature roller and cam type overrunning clutch. It is a compact unit designed to be incorporated in the customer's equipment. The proven cam and roller principle provides long trouble free life. The clutch has near zero backlash but allows high overrunning speeds. These clutches are ideal for machines requiring Overrunning Clutches, Backstopping Clutches Freewheeling Clutches or One Way Clutches such as inclined conveyors, tape and film drives, riveters, stampers etc.
CR-Series Roller Clutch Operating Principle:
Power may be applied to the clutch through either the housing or the shaft. A pulley, gear or sprocket mounted may be mounted on the housing shoulder or the customer may incorporate the clutch race into a specific housing design. The cam is screwed or keyed to the driven shaft. The outer housing and cam drive each other through wedging action between the rollers and the housing. The rollers are maintained in contact with the housing by individual springs. Side plates capture the rollers and springs in position relative to the cam.
CR-Series Roller Clutch Benefits:
- A Compact Unit-Assembly Designed to be Built into the Customer's Equipment -- No Loose Parts

CR-Series Roller Clutch Mounting:
TINY-CLUTCH CR-Series Clutches may be mounted for either R.H. or L.H. drive. Clutches are typically secured to the shaft with a set screw. They may also be press fit onto the shaft. Keyways are available in the CR887 and CR102 for mounting with woodruff or plain keys.
The CR-Series Clutches should be installed according to good bearing practice, using either bushings or bearings. It is important the clutch NOT be used as a roller bearing.

For best performance, race should be concentric with housing bearing within .002 T.I.R.
Unhardened steel housing races are adequate for many applications. Housings with a race surface hardened to Rockwell C-60 are recommended for high torque, shock duty or for high overrunning speeds.
